This run start out below the upper falls which is 2.6 kilometers up the trail. Logan Grayling and Tao Berman have run the upper falls but it is a former world record and is almost a 100 foot drop.
Directly below the upper drop is another falls this drop has a flat slide that leads into a 20 foot drop. This is a great way to start the run but if you are not feeling it there is also a put in below this drop.
The next drop Stella falls is a clean 15 footer with a good eddy off to the left to get out and scout. The next drop is the double drop. It is easy to run the first drop by boat scout but then you can not scout the second drop which is more substantial.
The next drop is a small double ledge into a large pool with a 20 footer below. Watch out for ledges in this drop. after hopping over a log jam get out to portage the lower falls below this is another 5 foot drop. Don't go left because of a large undercut and you should be fine.
The next drop is a drop that we usually portage. we have seal launched back into the river just below or walk the trail down and miss some fun water.
After this you are all free, there is one more drop but it is boat scoutabe. Just after this watch out for a log jam, it is easy to hop out and portage.
After you can treat yourself to some nice ice cream. And enjoy this beautiful area or go right across the valley and hit up Red Earth creek.
If this space is blank there have been no alerts posted for this specific river.
The symbols can be clicked on and provide some simple explanations of why they are there. You can also use the symbols to get directions from Google Maps to the put in/takeout. A handy thing!
From Banff travel west on the trans Canada highway. Turn off on to the 1A and go approximately 17 kilometers until you get to the turn off on the right.
Hike up the tourist trail approximately 2.6 kilometers. The put in for the run is right at the turn off for the upper view point of the upper falls.
If you decide to do the put in drop hike up towards the lower upper falls view point and make your way down to above the drop.
Drops with pools below, and small river sections in between.
There is no gauge. From the parking lot decide if it will float your boat. If it will then the run goes.
